All levels of government have issues that need to be addressed, but one that continues to be overlooked is the growing traffic problem in downtown Morehead.
Anyone who has driven through town recently knows exactly what I’m talking about. The intersection at the I-64 on and off ramps along Flemingsburg Road, the Kroger Center area near Topside Trail, Main Street near Wendy’s, and the Morehead Bypass intersection are all constant choke points.
Just last week, I couldn’t even reach my destination without cutting through side streets, turning around multiple times, and trying to avoid the worst of the congestion.
I know I’m not the only one dealing with this.
The truth is simple: Morehead has outgrown its infrastructure. The roads we rely on every day were not designed to handle the amount of traffic they’re now carrying.
This isn’t just an inconvenience—it’s a real issue that affects daily life, safety, and the future growth of our community.
It’s time for both local and state leaders to take a serious look at this problem and begin working toward real solutions before it gets even worse.
